Property owners affected by COVID-19 may have late penalties cancelled if they were unable to pay their property taxes by April 10.

The Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector’s Office is accepting requests for penalty cancellation related to COVID-19 at ttc.lacounty.gov.

Property owners unable to submit their request online must contact the TTC office at 213-974-2111 to complete their request.

Governor’s Executive Order Waives Late Penalties

On May 6, Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order that waives penalties for property taxes paid after April 10 for taxpayers who demonstrate they have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic through May 6, 2021. This applies to residential properties and small businesses. Additionally, the executive order extended the deadline for certain businesses to file Business Personal Property Statements to May 31, 2020, to avoid penalties.
