November 3, 2020 General Election Information - Important Reminders
Residents will recall during the City Council meeting of August 18, 2020 the City’s Municipal Election was canceled due to the appointments of the sole candidates (Councilmember Cruikshank and Councilmember Alegria) to the two vacant seats. The General Election for November 3, 2020 is fast approaching and below are some helpful links and reminders to ensure safe and secure voting.
IMPORTANT DATES:
- October 5 - Vote by mail ballots sent to registered voters
- October 19 - Last day to register to vote
- October 24 - Early in-person voting begins at select vote centers in LA County (Hours 10AM-7PM)
- October 30 - Early in-person voting begins at all vote centers in LA County (Hours 10AM-7PM)
- November 3 - Election Day. Polls open until 8 PM. Vote by mail ballots must be dropped at a vote center, drop-off box, or postmarked by Nov 3 to be counted

SAMPLE BALLOTS
Official sample ballots will be mailed to each registered voter between September 24 and October 13.
If you have not received your sample ballot by October 13 please visit the County’s website at: https://lavote.net/ or by calling (800) 815-2666 and pressing Option 2.

VOTING BY MAIL
All registered voters will be mailed a Vote by Mail ballot to ensure safe and accessible voting during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are multiple options to return your ballot:
- By Mail- with no postage necessary (ballot must be postmarked by Nov 3)
- At any Ballot Drop Boxes*
Ballot drop boxes to securely return your vote-by-mail ballot will be installed throughout LA County where voters can drop-off ballots 24-hours per day at any location between October 5 to November 3
- In person at any Vote Center in L.A. County
LA County voters can vote at any Vote Center in the county and are no longer limited to local polling places as in previous elections. Election workers will follow County and State COVID-19 protocols to provide a safe voting environment. Please remember to wear a clean face-covering and maintain 6 feet of distance from other voters and election workers.
* Currently there is a permanent drop box available outside City Hall near the flagpole, at 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard which will be accessible 24 hours per day beginning the week of October 5. Additional information on vote centers and drop boxes will be available from the County and we will post the information on the City’s website and other social media.
