The purpose of the Community Development Department is to ensure the orderly physical development of the community by upholding the goals and policies of the city's General Plan through the issuance of land use entitlements and permits for improvements and development of private property.
The department is comprised of the following 4 divisions that oversee the general functions described:
No Construction Allowed on Columbus Day (Monday, October 14, 2019)
Pursuant to Section 17.56.020(B) of the City’s Zoning Code, it is unlawful to carry on construction, grading or landscaping activities, or to operate heavy equipment on legal holidays, unless a Special Construction Permit is approved by the Director of Community Development. Special Construction Permits must be requested at least 48 hours before any such work is to begin.
