No Construction Allowed on Independence Day (Thursday, July 4, 2019)
Thursday, July 4th is a legal holiday (Independence Day). Pursuant to Section 17.56.020(B) of the City's Development Code, it is unlawful to carry on construction, grading, or landscaping activities, or to operate heavy equipment on legal holidays, unless a Special Construction Permit is approved by the Director of Community Development. Special Construction Permits must be requested at least 48 hours before any such work is to begin. Click here to download the Special Construction Permit application.
Please note that minor repairs, maintenance and landscaping activities (i.e., work that does not otherwise require a building permit) are not prohibited on legal holidays.
The mission of the Planning Division is to protect the City's natural resources; to ensure quality and sustainable community development and affordable housing; and to protect the public health, safety and welfare of our community through the application and enforcement of the City's Development Codes and land use policies.
The mission of the Planning Division is implemented through the following:
- DEVELOPMENT REVIEW - Review development projects to ensure compliance with land use and environmental standards. Provide support to the Planning Commission with review authority over land use policy and development projects.
- PLANNING - Manage planning studies relating to resource conservation and other issues affecting the City's quality of life. Ensure that residents, property owners, and business owners comply with land use policies and ordinances.
- ZONING INFORMATION - Provide zoning and other land use information to property owners, developers, community organizations, businesses and any other members of the public.
