Pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the City of Rancho Palos Verdes will prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed Portuguese Bend Landslide Mitigation Project.
The proposed project involves a series of recommended mitigation measures for the landslide, which began moving in 1956 and has resulted in significant infrastructure damage to homes, utilities, and roadways.
The City released the Initial Study that describes issues to be addressed in the project EIR. To view the Notice of Preparation of an EIR for the Portuguese Bend Landslide Mitigation Project, visit: http://www.rpvca.gov/DocumentCenter/View/16316/PBLS-NOP-w-Figure-110620. The comment period for the Notice of Preparation ends at 4:30 p.m. on January 15, 2021.
In addition to written comments, on December 19 at 12:30 p.m., the City Council will hold a hybrid in-person/virtual meeting to provide information about the project and solicit public input regarding issues to be addressed in the EIR. The City encourages all interested individuals and organizations to attend the meeting.
The meeting will take place in McTaggart Hall at Fred Hesse Jr. Community Park with safety protocols to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, though virtual participation is highly encouraged. To watch the meeting via Zoom, complete a form at rpvca.gov/participate to receive an email with further instructions.
A staff report will be posted on rpvca.gov/agendas prior to the meeting. Please submit your comments to the City Council in advance of the meeting by emailing them to email@example.com.
