John is President & CEO of two Southern California engineering firms: JMC2 Civil Engineering + Surveying, a San Pedro based company founded in 1996 and Ken Okamoto & Associates, a Costa Mesa firm founded in 1979. His current responsibilities include corporate leadership, client relations, business development, community outreach, and project management.
John attended the University of Southern California (USC) where he received his Bachelors of Science in Building Science in 1988 and his Masters of Science in Engineering Management in 1994.
In addition to his 30 years in civil engineering, John is currently a Board Member and Past President of the Harbor Association of Industry and Commerce (HAIC) where he formed the HAIC Workforce Development Committee. He was also on the Board for the International Trade Education Program (ITEP). He was named a Fellow with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and awarded Alumni of Year from USC’s School of Civil Engineering.
John lives in Rancho Palos Verdes with his wife, Jennifer, and teenage son, Sean, who is attending Peninsula High School. John was recently sworn in as a City Councilmember for the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, and he still serves as an Advanced Soccer Referee.
