On October 5, 2018 SafeWise released its annual "50 Safest Cities in California Report" for 2018. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes ranked #8 among the 50 safest cities in California.
SafeWise reviewed the 2016 FBI crime report statistics and population data to compile their report. SafeWise's evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) in each city. To level the playing field, SafeWise calculated the rate of crimes per 1,000 people in each city.
