Once every decade, the federal government conducts a census of the entire population in the United States and record basic information about them. The census not only counts our population and households, it provides the basis for reapportioning congressional seats, redistricting, and distributing billions of dollars in federal funds for health care services, housing, education, transportation, and other areas of public policy.
It is estimated that California and local communities could lose $1,950 per year for 10 years for each person not counted in the decennial census. A complete and accurate 2020 Census count is, therefore, critical for ensuring that California gets a fair share of Congressional representation and federal resources.
The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is taking an active approach to encourage participation in the 2020 Census by providing on-line tools and resources related to the census. For the on-line tools, resources, and other census details please visit the link below.
