Gaffey Street S.A.F.E. Collection Center is Reopened- The local Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, the Gaffey Street S.A.F.E. Collection Center, located at 1400 N. Gaffey Street in San Pedro is reopened and serving L.A. County residents. Local residents can bring their unwanted household hazardous waste (paint oil and water based), paint thinners, household and car batteries, used motor oil and filters, cleaners and solvents, garden and pool chemicals, automotive fluid and lubricants, and expired medicine) and electronic waste (TVs, VCRs, printers, computers, cell phones, microwaves, and monitors). The center is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
DUE TO COVID-19, THERE ARE STRICT SAFETY RULES THAT MUST BE ADHERED TO, AND LONG WAIT TIMES ARE ANTICIPATED.
COVID-19 SAFETY RULES
1. RESIDENTS MUST REMAIN IN THEIR VEHICLES AT ALL TIMES
2. FACE COVERINGS ARE MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES
3. MATERIALS MUST BE IN AN UNLOCKED TRUNK (STAFF WILL NOT OPEN THE VEHICLE DOOR OR ENTER THE VEHICLE’S CABIN)
ANY RESIDENTS THAT DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE SAFETY RULES WILL BE TURNED AWAY - NO EXCEPTIONS. THIS IS FOR YOUR SAFETY AS WELL AS OUR STAFF’S SAFETY.
