[ARCHIVED] Palos Verdes Historical Society Public Workshop February 1

PV Historical Society Museum

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes invites you to a public workshop on February 1 regarding a proposal from the Palos Verdes Historical Society to build a museum to display its extensive collection of historical exhibits. The workshop will take place at 6 p.m. in McTaggart Hall at Hesse Park.

The Historical Society has stated it could build an estimated 5,000-square-foot museum at Lower Point Vicente at its expense and then deed the museum to the City, which would then be responsible for staffing, operating and maintaining the building. In November 2022, the City Council did not approve or reject the proposal, but directed Staff to do further analysis, including reaching out to the public to provide information and ascertain the level of support for this proposal. The City Council identified the Ken Dyda Civic Center and Lower Point Vicente Park as the two potential City locations.

The workshop will include a financial and logistical analysis of the proposal, pros and cons of both potential locations, and a presentation by the Palos Verdes Historical Society.

Your input on the proposed project is requested. Feedback from this workshop will be shared with the City Council at a future meeting (tentatively scheduled for February 21, 2023).

Inquiries or concerns should be directed to Matt Waters, Senior Administrative Analyst, at 310-544-5218 or by email at mattw@rpvca.gov.

If you are a person with a disability and need an accommodation to participate in programs, services, activities and meetings, contact the City's ADA Coordinator/Risk Manager at 310-683-3157, adarequests@rpvca.gov, 30940 Hawthorne Blvd., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, at least 48 hours in advance to request an auxiliary aid or accommodation.
