[ARCHIVED] Automated License Plate Recognition Cameras Proving to be a Success

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is a proud partner with the Lomita Sheriff's Station and the cities of Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates and Rolling Hills on this important public safety project. Since the system began operating in August 2016, millions of license plates have been read, resulting in:

  • Recovery of 12 stolen vehicles and the arrest of 15 auto theft suspects
  • 3 arrests for outstanding warrants
  • 1 vehicle associated with a robbery from another agency stopped
  • 1 missing person located
