The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is announcing the continued formal education and outreach efforts to prepare area businesses for California’s recycling law. Starting January 1, 2017, businesses--including commercial or public entities like schools, hospitals, stores, restaurants, industrial businesses, for-profit or non-profit organizations, residential dwellings with 5 or more units*, and others--must recycle their organic waste over time based on the amount and type of waste the business produces on a weekly basis, with full implementation realized in 2019. *Note: Multifamily dwellings are required to have a green/yard waste diversion program only. Food waste diversion is not required at this time.
