The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Beach Hazards Statement from 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 5th through 9:00 PM on Monday, September 7th due to high surf and strong rip currents from an expected south swell. The effects of this swell will be felt most strongly on south-facing beaches, such as Abalone Cove Shoreline Park. Beach-goers are advised to be extra cautious at the City's beaches this holiday weekend, and to follow the safety instructions of lifeguards, law enforcement personnel and the City's Recreation & Parks staff.
