Governor Newsom Announces Historic “Vax for the Win” Program to Get More Californians Vaccinated by June 15Last week, Governor Gavin Newsom launched Vax for the Win, a new multi-faceted vaccine incentive program designed to motivate Californians to get their vaccination leading up to the state’s reopening on June 15. All Californians aged 12+ who are at least partially vaccinated are automatically eligible for the cash prize drawings taking place in June. Thirty winners in total will be selected for the “$50,000 Fridays” cash prize drawings on June 4 and June 11, totaling $1.5 million. On June 15, $1.5 million will be awarded to 10 lucky Californians – for a grand total of $15 million in cash prizes. Winners must complete their vaccination in order to claim their prize. If someone under 18 wins, the cash will be put in a savings account for them until they turn 18. Beginning on May 27, the next two million people who begin and complete their COVID-19 vaccination will automatically be eligible to receive a $50 prepaid or grocery card, worth a total of $100 million. What will California look like after June 15?California plans to fully reopen on June 15. You might be wondering what it will look like after. Everyday life will feel a lot like pre-pandemic life, with a few exceptions. L.A. County will align its guidance with the state’s reopening guidance that ease many capacity limits and distancing requirements. Nearly all sectors and businesses will be able to return to usual operations with some limited exceptions. People who are fully vaccinated will no longer need to wear masks in most situations. The county will also follow the state on lifting current travel restrictions on June 15 to align with CDC travel recommendations as well as adopt the CDC’s masking guidelines. After most sectors reopen fully on June 15, there will continue to be sector-specific protocols for schools, day cares, camps, hospitals, health care facilities, and high-risk congregate settings; these protocols will continue masking, distancing and infection control safety measures as appropriate. And while businesses may not be required to maintain distancing, masking, and infection control after June 15, the L.A. County Department of Public Health recognizes that many businesses may want to continue some public health measures for the safety of their workers and customers. Public Health will be posting best practices next week to help businesses make plans and will provide more updates on these as they become available. COVID-19 Vaccine FAQs: What can I do if I lose my vaccination record card?If you did not get a vaccination record card, or you lost it, there are two ways to get a copy of your official record from the state’s California Immunization Registry (CAIR). - Ask your primary care provider to look up your vaccination record in the California state immunization registry (CAIR) and give you a copy.
- Request a copy of your vaccination record directly from the state immunization registry, CAIR. Please wait at least 2-3 weeks after you are vaccinated before making the request and know that this request may take an additional 2-3 weeks given the high demand. Complete the online Authorization To Release Form. Have a scan or photo of a current official picture ID ready to upload as the form must be completed in a single session. You will receive a record by email. The record can only be requested online and can only be provided by email. For more information, visit cairweb.org.
