Planned Protest on Palos Verdes Drive South

Please see the following message from the Lomita Sheriff's Station regarding a planned protest today, May 31, on Palos Verdes Drive South. The Sheriff's Department has enhanced its presence in the area and City staff remains in communication with law enforcement:

Good morning! We have been inundated with calls, emails, and messages regarding a planned protest on Palos Verdes Drive South today. Thank you very much to the public for keeping us in the loop! People are very interested in what our plans are in dealing with it.

Quite simply put, we absolutely 100% support the First Amendment and the right to peaceful assembly.

If it becomes clear that the protest is no longer peaceful (ie. blocking roadways, vandalism, looting, etc) we have resources on standby from across LASD and neighboring agencies ready to respond.

It is our genuine hope that those that attend today do not allow their message to be tainted by those that don't know the difference between protest and riot.
