Cal Water Update: New Pump Station and Drinking Water Pipeline Officially in Service
Please see the following update from Cal Water regarding the Palos Verdes Peninsula Water Reliability Project:
Dear Residents,
We’re reaching out to provide you with an update on California Water Service’s (Cal Water) Palos Verdes Peninsula Water Reliability Project.
We are pleased to announce that the new pump station and drinking water pipeline are officially in service! The 30-day acceptance period began on August 31, during which the new water infrastructure will be closely monitored to ensure that it continues to operate properly.
Of note, Palos Verdes Peninsula residents are already experiencing the benefits of this project. The new water pipeline and pump station were critical to maintaining water service to residents and businesses during recent rotating power outages and helped prevent major water service interruptions during some of the hottest days of the year. As California grapples with several wildfires, this new water infrastructure is already delivering on its promise - to help ensure Peninsula residents and firefighters have safe and reliable water service for everyday and emergency needs.
Crews are continuing minor restoration and finishing work along the pipeline route to ensure that all areas where construction took place are returned to the same - or better - condition. All work is taking place from Monday to Friday, with some intermittent Saturday work. There may be small, temporary closures when needed for safety, but there will always be at least one lane open in all directions.
Below is an overview of the areas where you may see this work taking place:
- Crenshaw Boulevard, between Crest Road and the Rolling Hills United Methodist Church (between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.)
- Crenshaw Boulevard, at the new pump station, north of Silver Spur Road (between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.)
- Lariat Lane and along the Botanic Garden Trail (between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.)
- Rolling Hills Road (private road) (between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.)
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the project team at PVPWaterProject@CalWater.com.
Thank you for your continued patience, we appreciate it!
Best,
Palos Verdes Peninsula Water Reliability Project Team
