New Rules for Single-Use Foodware Accessories Start September 15 in RPV

To comply with a new state law aimed at reducing pollution, starting September 15, 2022, the City of Rancho Palos Verdes will implement new regulations for single-use foodware accessories. These include disposable utensils, chopsticks, napkins, straws, stirrers, splash and cocktail sticks, and condiment cups and packets.

Food service providers in RPV will be required to make these items available to consumers on request only in accordance with the new law, AB 1276.

The City Council adopted an ordinance to bring the City into compliance with AB 1276 in August.

Fines for violations are $25 per day (not to exceed $300).
