City Council Meeting Highlights

Highlights from the February 18, 2025 City Council meeting:

  • The Council denied an appeal requested by Verdes Estates Inc. of the Planning Commission’s decision upholding the Director of Community Development’s determination for property located at 5323 Ironwood Street.
  • The Council accepted over $65,000 in state funding to develop incentive programs for affordable housing opportunities in the City. This could include grants of $10,000-$15,000 for property owners to create affordable ADUs, and $5,000 grants for lower-income homeowners, including seniors and persons with disabilities, for home repairs and improvements.
  • The Council received an update on the Abalone Cove Landslide Abatement District’s plan to use a $1.6 million loan from the City to install up to 10 deep dewatering wells 250 feet underground to relieve water pressure that is fueling land movement.
