NOTICE OF ADVISORY BOARD RECRUITMENT 
FOR 
SPECIAL VACANCY
CIVIC CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City is currently conducting a recruitment to fill a seat due to a special vacancy on the Civic Center Advisory Committee. This is a volunteer, non-paying position with an unexpired term of office ending in June 2026.  

 Civic Center Advisory Committee

The potential scope and community importance of the Civic Center Master Plan merited the formation of a citizen’s advisory committee.  The guidance, advice, and expertise of a cross-section of informed and motivated residents is of great value as this process moves forward.  Advisory committee members play a vital role in the remainder of the public outreach process, financial analysis, layout/boundary concerns, conceptual design, and other issues.  The Committee meets on a monthly basis, typically the 4th Thursday of the month, at 6:00 P.M. in the Community Room at City Hall, with authorization for Staff to cancel unnecessary monthly meetings after conferring with the Chair. The Committee has been meeting in accordance with the requirements of the Ralph M. Brown Act, Section 54950 et seq. of the Government Code. Remote participation by any Committee member shall be in accordance with Subdivisions (b)(3) or (f) of Government Code Section 54953, which allows for remote participation based on certain criteria.

Those interested in applying must submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023.  To be considered for appointment, an applicant must be a resident of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.  To apply please visit the City’s website at the following link http://www.rpvca.gov/150/Advisory-Board-Recruitment  to complete an application. An application may also be requested by contacting the City Clerk’s Department at cityclerk@rpvca.gov or by calling (310) 544-5217.

Interviews with the City Council are tentatively scheduled to take place on November 7, 2023, prior to the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting virtually using the Zoom platform. The City Clerk’s Office will confirm the date and time of the interviews with the applicants.
