The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is currently conducting a recruitment to fill a special vacancy which occurred on January 21, 2020, on the City’s Traffic Safety Committee. This is a volunteer, non-paying position with an unexpired term of office ending in February 2023.
The five member Traffic Safety Committee serves as a public forum for traffic related issues including placement of traffic control devices, consideration of traffic calming solutions, safety-related tools and posted speed limits. The 2019-2020 work plan for the Traffic Safety Committee includes providing civic engagement opportunities to discuss school safety matters, safe school routes, crossing guards and crosswalks. The Committee will also provide comments and recommendations to the City Council regarding the Circulation Element of the General Plan Update, permit parking in coastal zones and roadway safety relating to multi-modal use of the public rights-of-way. The Traffic Safety Committee generally meets on the 4th Monday, every-other month at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall.
Those interested in applying must submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020. To be considered for appointment, an applicant must be a resident of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. Interviews with the City Council are anticipated to take place in March 2020 prior to a regularly scheduled City Council Meeting. The City Clerk’s Office will confirm the date and time of the interviews with the applicants.
