2025 California Building Codes
New Building Code in Effect January 1, 2026
The 2025 California Building Standards Code was adopted by the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council on November 11, 2025. The code and local ordinances will become effective on January 1, 2026. All construction and development projects submitted to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes on or after this date will be required to comply with the new code requirements. 👉🏽 Click here for more information
2025 CALIFORNIA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 1)
2025 CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE VOLUMES ONE AND TWO, Including Appendix; F-Rodent proofing, G-Flood Resistant Construction, H-Signs, I-Patio Covers, J-Grading, N-Replicable Buildings, O-Performance Based Application, and P-Emergency Housing (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 2), based on the 2024 International Building Code (IBC).
2025 CALIFORNIA ELECTRICAL CODE, incorporating the 2023 edition of the National Electrical Code including all Annex Chapters except for sections 80.15 and 80.27 of Annex H (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 3), based on the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC).
California fire code Title 24 is composed of twelve parts and covers the regulations for all occupancies throughout the state of California. The health and safety codes give us the authority to adopt and also amend Title 24 through local ordinances.
2025 CALIFORNIA WILDLAND-URABN INTERFACE CODE, The International Wildland-Urban Interface Code (IWUIC) is a publication for mitigating the risk of wildfire spread from wildland areas to communities and nearby structures. The California Wildland-Urban Interface Code 2025 is based on the International Wildland-Urban Interface Code 2024 (IWUIC 2024) with amendments and additions.
2025 CALIFORNIA PLUMBING CODE, incorporating the 2024 edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code including all its appendices, (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 5).
2025 CALIFORNIA MECHANICAL CODE, incorporating the 2024 edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code including all its appendices, (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 4).
2025 CALIFORNIA RESIDENTIAL CODE (CRC), including Appendix Chapter Patio Covers, Existing Buildings and Structures, Tiny Houses, Swimming Pool Safety Act, and Emergency Housing (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 2.5), based on the 2024 International Residential Code (IRC).
2025 CALIFORNIA ENERGY CODE, including all its appendices, (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 6).
2025 CALIFORNIA HISTORICAL BUILDING CODE, including all its appendices, (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 8).
2025 CALIFORNIA EXISTING BUILDING CODE, including all its appendices, (California Code of Regulations Title 24, Part 10), based on the 2024 International Existing Building Code (IEBC).
2025 CALIFORNIA GREEN BUILDING STANDARDS CODE, (California Code of Regulations. Title 24, Part 11).
2025 CALIFORNIA REFERENCED STANDARDS CODE, (California Code of Regulations, Part 12 of Title 24).
In accordance with State law, these codes are amended by the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, as reflected on the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code.
