Tax Safety
Tax season is a time when scammers are especially active, and it’s important to take precautions to protect your personal information and hard-earned money. Be especially mindful during both the first and second installments of property tax season, as fraud attempts often increase. Always verify the source of any communication claiming to be from the IRS or other agencies and use secure methods when filing or sending payments. Below are key tips to help keep your refund and payments safe:

- The IRS will never contact you via email, phone, or text message. Do not provide personal or financial information through these channels
- The IRS will never demand payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, QR codes, nor will it make surprise, in-person visits.
